The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, Mr. Ambrose Aisabor, on Tuesday said four male students of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara State, -Olawuyi Babatunde, Osadahin Matthew, Bamikole Emmanuel and one Adebisi- had been arrested for alleged involvement in armed robbery.
He stated that one of the suspects was a neighbour to the victim, Adeolu Emmanuel.
Parading the four suspects and three other suspects in Ilorin, the CP lamented the increasing involvement of students of tertiary institutions in the state in crimes.
According to the CP, the suspects during interrogation, confessed to being members of a cult group, Eiye Confraternity.
He added that the suspects would be arraigned.
He said officials of the command recovered two AK 47 rifles, which were allegedly left behind by the hoodlums in a bush before the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, as the police chased them.
He exp0lained that the command saved a man, suspected to be mentally unstable, from being lynched by an irate mob.
He warned residents in the state to avoid lynching suspected kidnappers or suspected criminals, adding that “madness is not synonymous with criminality.”
Aisabor said the command would not condone lynching of suspects and urged the public to report any suspected criminal to a nearby police station.
