Luck ran out of three kidnappers on Wednesday in Ijoko area of Ota in Ado-Odo-Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State as three kidnappers were set ablaze by angry hoodlums after their victim, Elizabeth Oluwole screamed, alerting the crowed who pounced on the kidnappers.
A witness said that some mobs beat and killed the kidnappers before setting them on fire including their car, adding that Elizabeth was rescued.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi confirmed the incident, and added that before the police arrived the scene, the mob had already burnt the suspects.
He revealed that Elizabeth was currently being investigated and assured that the command had begun investigate the incident.
Narrating the incident, Adejobi said that Elizabeth boarded a cab with an unknown plate number from Sona Brewery, Sango-Ota to Ewekoro at 7.40 a.m, but found herself at another area called Gas line in Ijoko area.
The PPR said “She screamed from the vehicle in which she was being taken to their den, when she observed that she was in another place and the people in the area blocked the vehicle, beat the occupants, killed them and burnt them to ashes.”
“The victim is being interrogated. We are going to use a multifaceted approach. We want to know if there had been an interaction between the suspects and the victim. The jungle justice affected our case.
“The people alerted us at the Headquarters instead of calling the DPO in Ota, and immediately we asked the DPO to move to the scene. Before they got there, the suspects had been killed and burnt to ashes. It was a heavy inferno, they put tyres on the suspects and set them ablaze. We have evacuated their ashes.
“We have taken over the matter; we are still investigating the matter. We condemn jungle justice, people should desist from this act”, the spokesperson said.
