A Must Read: "President Jonathan is a good person, He"s my friend and brother" - Governor Nyako

By Ehi Ekhator

Surprising as it may sound, the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Governor Murtala Nyako has finally come out to praise Jonathan saying he is a good man but some Abuja politicians are lying behind his back.

I was not condemned at security meeting, says Nyako

He praised the President over the way he handled the issue of his letter in the last Security Council. He added that Despite what he wrote, President Jonathan was calm, with no grudges and allowed everyone to talk in the meeting.

He debunked the wide spread claim that some governors in the meeting condemned his letter, he said people were allowed to make observations.

Nyako revealed that the President asked the letter to be read again and asked for comments from members of the Security Council.

NAIJA CENTER NEWS published days ago that Nyako memo to the Northern Governors accusing the President of orchestrating genocide in the north through his state of emergency, was one of the major topics raised during the Security Council Meeting.

The Governor, just like Usman Jimeta, accused the President of attempting to reduce the population of the North through his organized killings.

The Governor said  “My letter was never condemned. People made observations but nobody came out and asked why or how I reached my conclusion and all that. They never asked me this,” he said.

“Mr. President allowed everybody to speak; he asked for comments and we were allowed to read the paper (letter) again; and he asked for comments. Nobody condemned me for writing such a letter. The talk that my paper (letter) was condemned is all nonsense.”

He urged people to be loyal to the President and pray for him as the leader of the country.

According to him, “We as a people must remain loyal to the President and always pray for him to succeed as our leader. He is my friend and brother and I’m his Special Adviser on Agriculture and he also appointed me as a member of the National Economic Council.

“The President is a good person. The only problem is that many Abuja based politicians with evil motive have been going to him to say Admiral Murtala Nyako doesn’t like him. The President has since stopped listening to charlatans who want to put a wedge between me and him.

“Mr. President, to me, was really superb the way he handled the Security Council meeting. He wore no anger, no sign of getting too involved and he allowed everybody to speak. This is a democratic country and we are free to speak.”

He said that the speculation by the Peoples Democratic Party that he is trying to frustrate President Jonathan’s visit to Adamawa is untrue.

“I am ready to leave the entire Government House for the president during his visit. In fact, I was saddened that the president had to be confined to a certain cubicle during his last visit to the state while the Government House was there for him to use,” Nyako said.”

He revealed the reason behind the letter he wrote.

He said he had to write the letter because even though the Federal Government has deployed troupes to the northeast occassioned by the imposition of the state of emergency, their presence has not stopped the mass murder, destruction of properties and paralyzing of the economic in the zone.

He said:”Everybody knows that the security situation, especially in the north, is degenerating by the day as mass killing is being recorded. The records are there. A number of people taken into the custody of the state and the nation’s apparatus are being taken to the grave yard for burial from the cells.

“Those inmates are not being fed or looked after and it is a well-known fact in this state.”

“About 80 percent of the world’s nations have prohibited the use of the military to contain internal security issues. The use of the military in internal security situation is prohibited by most nations in their constitution,” Nyako said.

Nyako said he was happy that a new decision has been taken by all stakeholders and probably with the new strategy, the issue of terrorism will come to an end..
