Man kills friend, steals his motorcycle, say Police

The police in Gombe State have arrested a 26-year-old applicant, Job Danladi, for allegedly killing his friend and stealing his motorcycle.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Gombe State Police Command, Fwaje Atajiri, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Gombe.

Mr. Atajiri said that the suspect had requested the deceased, one Peter Mela, to convey him in his motorcycle from Billiri town to Kufai Village for a N150 fare.

According to the police, the suspect later used a sharp machete to kill his victim and took the motorcycle to Ayaba village.

The PPRO said the suspect was arrested following police investigations, adding that the suspect had confessed to committing the crime.

He said that the suspect would be charged to court after investigations were completed.

Mr. Atajiri also said that another suspect, Nura Sambo, conspired with one Ibrahim Kumo alias Runi, both of Billiri town, to attempt snatching a vehicle.

He said that the owner of the vehicle, Pada Stephen, raised an alarm which attracted the attention of police officers on patrol who arrested Mr. Sambo.

He said that Mr. Kumo escaped, adding that Mr. Sambo was assisting the police in their investigations.

The spokesperson, who stated that a sub-machine gun was recovered from the suspect, said the suspect would soon be charged to court.

He said six other miscreants were arrested for attempting to snatch mobile phones, jewelry and other valuables from residents of Low Cost Housing Estate, Gombe, on Saturday.

Mr. Atajiri said that the state experienced a hitch-free Easter celebration, and attributed the success to operational plan by the state Commissioner of Police, Kudu Nma.
