Did Nollywood actress, Afrocandy begs fans for money online?

By N’josh Miyim

Yesterday, some part of the media published about the popular soft porn Nollywood actress, Judith Mazagwu AKA, Afrocandy, the producer, director and writer of Destructive Instinct, begging her fans to assist her financially.

AfroCandy Movie Afro movies

Naija Center News was not so certain about the information, then put a call to Afrocandy who confirmed that it was actually tweeted by her. She said it was just a fundraising that she thought she could assist herself with.

When asked by Naija Center News correspondent if she didn’t feel embarrassed about her action, she simply smiled and said “I am still alive, i am not dead, I won’t stop it from going viral, i am still having fun.

“It’s only in Nigeria such thing is broadcast negatively, actors or actresses in America do fundraising for personal reasons when they are financially down to keep up. But anything that enters Nigeria seems to be misinterpreted.”

In the fundraising website which she titled “Help me Now I am still Alive”, Afrocandy in her attempt to convince her fans to donate, gave a brief history of the hardship she had after her husband abandoned her with her kids since 2006.

She disclosed that she could not retrieve the money she invested in her movie as the marketers in Nigeria have not remitted a penny since it was distributed.

She said “I am a single mother of 2 well behaved, intelligent, smart girls. Moved from Africa in 2005 to join their father who abandoned us after one year of living together. Since then I’ve been struggling on my own without support from any particular person exept some friends that help out sometimes. I am not on welfare, don’t get child support and not on unemployment. I highly talented, I write songs and scripts, edit, produce and even direct. All I need is an opportunity to be discovered.

“I’ve done so many different jobs to sustain us but no matter what I do, it seems like I haven’t even started. So I went back into showbiz which is what I was doing b4 I migrated, acted and produced my own movie, after investing all my money with the hope I could get a turn over before my first daughter’s time for college, I was messed up by the partners I trusted, Movie was released since January, up until now, not even a dime from the Distributors I handed over in Africa. Now my Daughter has been Accepted into college, I am going crazy trying to fit the bills, rent, tuition and all other expenses. Please help me now that I am still alive before I lose it

Many Nollywood actors and some popular singers had taken advantage of the social media to raise money for some personal reasons. last year, OJB who was almost at the point of death due to kidney problem, begged fans to assist in raising money for the needed operation which was later carried out in India.
