Nigeria soldiers kill top Boko Haram commander

The Nigerian military has confirmed that it killed a man described as a notorious top terrorist commander, Abu Mojahid, a member of the Boko Haram terrorist during an encounter with troops on the outskirt of Alagarno on Tuesday morning.


According to Defence headquarters press statement on Wednesday, the terrorist had staged an attack on the troops on patrol in the area.


The Chief of Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade said “A number of the terrorists died as the troops repelled the attack.  Some Rocket Propelled Grenades as well as vehicle mounted Anti-Aircraft guns were either captured or destroyed in the encounter.”


Olukolade added that the military are still on operation, including aggressive patrols, mopping up, and condon and search operation to sweet out identified terrorists in some forest locations


The General revealed that it improvised explosive planted by the Boko Haram members to deter the progress of the operation are being carefully cleared. He added that the terrorist group also planted land mines in strategic places can not stop the progress being made in forest locations.
