The agency’s released figures tallies with that of the police, although witnesses said the casualty figure was higher. NEMA said 71 people have so far died from the explosion.
In a statement by its Senior Information Officer, Sani Batti, NEMA said Asokoro General Hospital received the highest number of casualties and injured persons from the explosion.
Mr. Batti said that the Director General of NEMA, Mohammed Sidi, visited some of the hospital where the injured victims are receiving treatment.
