Suspended lawmakers of the People Democratic party, PDP, in Edo State House of Assembly has vowed to attend the adjourned sitting scheduled to hold on Monday, saying that no amount of “executive rascality” will stop them from attending despite a restraining order from court preventing them from gaining access into the premises.
The suspended lawmakers in company of the state working committee of the party and other PDP lawmakers in the House,at a media briefing in Benin secretariat of the party, made this known, just as the state chairman of the party, Chief Dan Orbih, administration of justice in the state was putting the state on the precipice of political anarchy.
The Minority leader and one of the eight PDP lawmakers in the house, Hon. Emmanuel Okoduwa, while explaining why his suspended colleagues would attend the plenary on Monday said that the two reliefs granted to the APC lawmakers were strange and unworkable.
He said” We said the order that they cannot enter the legislative quarters is strange because as lawmakers we pay mnthly rent to live in the quarters. There is no order that will say that you cannot stay in an apartment where you pay N27,000 monthly.
”The second relief which says the purported suspended members should not disturb the business of the House is simply asking someone, who was elected to represent his people not to do so. As a matter of fact, legislative business can never be complete without such person. So, the orders are not enforceable if they were granted in the first place”
The State PDP Chairman, Dan Orbih, expressed regret that the problem rocking the Edo State House of assembly could have been resolved during the meeting of all 24 members of the House on Wednesday if not for the involvement of the State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole who instructed APC lawmakers not to allow the agreements reached by the fighting lawmakers.
