Youths task Edo lawmakers

A coalition of Youth groups in Edo state has urged the newly elected lawmakers both at the state and National Assembly to work in the interest of the people.

The youths under the umbrella of Edo Youths Fronts stress the need for the newly inaugurated lawmakers to work with the state government to make laws that will have direct positive impact on the people.


Coordinator of the coalition, Barrister Dennis Osaretin Agho in a statement after a stakeholder meeting urge the lawmakers from the state to deliver campaign promises made during electioneering.


“Our lawmakers must work in concert with the current government at both the state and Federal level to ensure the speedy development of the state and the delivering of democracy dividend to their constituencies as promised during the electioneering campaign.


“The people hope on having a vibrant and quality representation at the legislative arm must not be traded for political gain.”


The group said the people of the state needs a sound and vibrant legislative arm who will not be a rubber stamp for the executive.


“The newly elected lawmakers should rise to the occasion putting aside party affiliations in their new task, personal ambition must not over ride National interest,”


Agho said the youth coalition would constantly engaged the Assembly to ensure that the state is well represented and youths interest accommodated in decisions.
