Baby Factory: NSCDC Smashes Syndicate

Baby factory: The Akwa Ibom State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has smashed a syndicate which operates fake clinic, where young girls are kept for men to get them pregnant and the children sold after being born.

Mr Pedro Ideba, the Commander of the corps, who disclosed this at the weekend in Uyo, when he visited the state Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalist( NUJ), Elder Patrick Albert, said that the syndicate are well organized such that once the young girls give birth, the babies are immediately sold to prospective buyers.


He explained that over 18 suspects were arrested during a dawn raid of the fake clinic located at Ikot Akpan Abia in Uyo the state capital and three crying babies were recovered from them without mothers.


Ideba, who also revealed that a man was arrested for sexually abusing his 12 year old daughter in one village not far from Uyo said before the incident his command got information that led to the rescue of 18 teenagers abducted and kept at different locations between Ndoki in Abia state and Oyigbo in Rivers state.


The NSCDC Commander, who said that his visit to the NUJ state Council was necessitated by the need to strengthen the existing relations between his organization and the Union further explained that NSCDC in the state would continue in its war against oil thieves , pipeline and electricity cable vandals and reduce the ugly trend. State Chairman of NUJ Elder Patrick Albert commended the commander for his untiring effort in stemming the tide of vandals and oil thieves in the state.


He, however, called for closer ties with the media so as to help in publicizing the activities of the command and other agencies in the state.
