(Ondo State) There were indications yesterday that the executive governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko may, at any time, dump his political party, Labour Party, (LP) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Many of the chietains of the LP has over the months decamp to the PDP including close aides of the governor.

It has been reliably gathered that Governor Mimiko has been doing a lot of consulting with the leadership of the PDP and even met with the National Chairman, Alhaji Muazu, in Abuja on how he could come back to the party.

It was revealed that the governor as at yesterday met with the leadership of the LP in the 18 local government in the state to hint them of the development, but no report on what was discussed made available to the press.

According to the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Eni Akinsola who could not confirm nor denied the speculation, “If such thing is happening, you journalists will be the first to get informed, “he said.

However, a close associate of the governor revealed that the governor was already out of LP, adding that he had concluded arrangement to move to the PDP but only consulting with stakeholders at the state level.

“As I am speaking to you right now, Oga is already in the PDP. He will meet the leaders of LP from the 18 local government areas today (yesterday) to inform them and fashion out how they will all move, because if he moves out, definitely all of us will follow him, “he said.

It is obvious that if the governor left the LP party in the state, it would mark the extinction of the party in the state.
