The outspoken Nigerian celebrity, Charles Novia has attacked Nigerian celebrities like Genevieve Nnaji, Psquare, Don Jazzy and many more for taking part in the ice bucket challenge
Charles is an ardent critic of many celebrities in Nigeria, and he didn’t stay away from this as he lashed at them for fighting to be a second class celebrity.
He said instead of Nigerian celebrities to fight or create awareness for the diseases that actually affect them, like Ebola, they joined western celebrities in creating awareness for ALS, adding that their action is a sign of inferiority complex.
It could be recalled that Don Jazzy, Genevieve, Iyanya, psquare and host of others took part in the ice bucket challenge presently going on. Nigeria is presently struggling to survive from the attacked from the late Patrick Sawyer of Liberia, but Nigerian celebrities create awareness and donate for ALS which affects most of the western countries that actually rejected Nigeria government offers to get the trial drugs for Ebola.
The Ice bucket challenge is an activity involving dumping a bucket of ice water on one’s head or donating to the ALS Association in the United States. It went viral throughout social media during the Northern Hemisphere summer of 2014.
The action is aimed at raising money for research into ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a form of motor neurone disease) and in the UK to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Macmillan Cancer Support.
Apart from pouring on yourself an ice water, you are also to donate a stipend to the Association in United State and so far, celebrities have donated $22.9m for charity, meanwhile Nigerian government has called on anyone who could assist in the same reason (Ebola), but this time, a problem affecting African region.
