The Presidency on Friday evening doused the tension generated earlier in the day over the state of health of President Goodluck Jonathan, saying the President was is not dead.
There were two versions of the state of health of the President that forced his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, to dispel the rumour in his Twitter handle.
While a report claimed that Jonathan might have lost his life in a plane crash, the other alleged that the President collapsed and died in his office.
Abati, in his Twitter handle, however described the reports as mischievous.
He asked Nigerians to beware of those devilish elements.
“President Jonathan is hale and hearty. Information being spread about his state of health and condition is mischievous. Beware of devilish elements!” the presidential spokesman wrote.
Jonathan had earlier in the day witnessed the signing of a $1bn Rice Investment Memorandum of Understanding between the Federal Government and the Dangote Group at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
He also attended the fund-raising dinner for the Victims Support Fund at the Banquet Hall of the Villa alongside his wife, Patience, on Thursday evening.
