THE Department of State Services (DSS), on Saturday, warned Nigeria to be wary of possible attacks by terrorists who may operate under the guise of Catholic reverend sisters.
The warning was contained in a statement made available to journalists on Saturday by the services’ deputy director, public relations, Marilyn Ogar.
Ogar said some people that remained yet unknown had broken into a garment making factory where Catholic Church reverend sisters’ regalia were being made and made away with some of them.
Nigerians will recall that recently, members of the terrorist group, Boko Haram, have been carrying out attacks on the people disguising as females and actually engaging services of females.
According to the DSS, the motive behind the burglary might be to execute some planned suicide bombing in a way that the masses would least expect.
“On 20 August, 2014, about 0400 hours (about 4.00 a.m.), some unidentified persons broke into a tailoring shop located at No 55, Odutola Street, Sabon Gari, Kano, and stole about thirteen (13) pieces of Catholic Church reverend sisters’ regalia.
“With the recent trend of female suicide bombings in the country, the theft of these regalia heightens concerns about the possibility of terrorist elements using same to perpetrate acts of terror.
“Consequently, this service wishes to draw the attention of the public to this development and to call on all citizens to be more circumspect and exercise greater vigilance with users of such peculiar attires.
“We, therefore, enjoin all to continue to cooperate with law enforcement agencies through the provision of useful information on suspicious activities within their immediate environment.
“This service will continue to collaborate with all stakeholders as we strive to keep our country safe,” she said.
It will be recalled that the security agencies recently arrested a youth suspected to have detonated the bomb that nearly killed former military Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari. He was said to have dressed in a female attire so as to evade detection.

It will be recalled that on 20 August, the insurgents launched a fresh offensive on the camp.
A statement issued in Abuja by Force Public Relations Officer(FPRO), Emmanuel Ojukwu, a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), said that, “so far, 35 policemen who are still missing from the facility as a result of the latest attack are being searched for and there is very promising prospect of locating them.”
