Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State says Nigerian Youths are the key to making Nigeria great, as they continue to excel even in the face of daunting challenges.
Speaking at the parade to mark the conclusion of the orientation exercise of Batch ‘B’ 2014 Youth Corps Members at Okada, Edo State yesterday, Oshiomhole said “your performance is a pointer to the determination of our youths as represented by yourselves, future leaders of the country that you would by your actions, in spite of all the challenges in our environment, make a statement that you have what it takes to make Nigeria a better country.
Oshiomhole added, “I believe that on this occasion, you decided that you are going to look your best and demonstrate the energy of our youth, the creativity of our youth and your determination to face the challenges and the rigour of providing leadership for tomorrow.
“Let me congratulate the Coordinator for his leadership. What I have seen here today shows that under proper management and guidance along with your colleagues, you have almost transformed the Corpers to a fighting army, developing and contributing to the development of the state.
“I know that as have been the case in the past, you would be posted to different parts of our state whether urban or rural and we expect as your predecessors have done, that you have become indigenes of the state. This is the only state of the 36 states in the federation where we don’t know of indigenes or settlers. If you are here, even for an NYSC program, you become part of Edo Community”. He said.
“Your predecessors have made landmark contributions to the development of this state for which our people and our government are very, very grateful and I know that you too will like to improve on the record which your predecessors have set”, Oshiomhole said.
He assured the Corp members of the people’s warm reception as well as the government full assistance and support in making your stay in the state worthwhile so that at the end of the service, you might even decide to settle in the state stressing.
2,787 Corps members participated in the the Batch ‘B’ Orientation Programme.
