Another group of sponsors of the dreaded islamic sect, Boko Haram has been revealed by Dr. Stephen Davis who as at 28 of August, told Arise Tv during an interview session that Ihejirika and the former governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff were co-sponsors of the sect.
During the interview with Arise Tv, Dr. Davis mentioned Nyanya mastermind, Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche who was arrested in Sudan and flown back to Nigeria for his alleged involvement in the bombing of the park few months back.
He, without going into details wondered why Nigerian securities have refused to question the arrested suspect, adding that three of the arrested boko haram members link with the bombing have their uncle’s backings.
He also made it clearer that the three boys live with the said uncle and urge Nigerian securities to arrest him immediately.
During an interview with thecable, a Nigerian online newspaper yesterday, Dr. Davis gave a clearer picture of the uncle he earlier mentioned. According to him, a senior official of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) was involved in the sponsoring of the sect.
He revealed that Western countries found it difficult to trace the source of funds because it was going through legal channel which make it very easy to cover up.
He added that one of the biggest suppliers of Boko Haram arms and military uniforms reside in Cairo, Egypt. He receives the money sent by Boko Haram political sponsors from Nigeria and the funds go through CBN’s system as a legal transaction.
Dr. Davis who seems to be ready to go deeper on his allegation revealed further that the funding is handled in the CBN by the uncle of the three boys arrested in connection with the bombing that took place in Nyanya few months back. He said the boys lived with him before they were arrested by the DSS.
The Australian negotiator also accused a senior CBN official who recently left the bank as an accomplice in the system. He added that Sadiq Aminu Ogwuche’s wife used to visit the official in the headquarter before the Nyanya bombing, adding that they were very close.
Giving reasons why he decided to blow the whistle, he said the Nigerian authorities were not acting fast to rescue the more than 200 Chibok school girls kidnapped by Boko Haram in April. He said ” “I have three daughters. I just cannot stand the thought of what those girls are passing through. I have spoken to an escapee who described how she was being raped for 40 days by militants. I can’t stand it. It is heart-breaking. Nigerian authorities must act decisively now,”.
