The Nigeria Police Force, Akwa Ibom State Command has arrested four suspected persons over the murder of former Deputy Speaker, Mr. Okon Uwah.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Gabriel Achong, said this during a press conference in his office in Uyo on Saturday.
According to him, after the incident, police operatives led by a senior police officer, quickly mobilised to the scene which led to the arrest of the perpetrators.
“Consequently, our coordinated investigation into the case has led to the arrest of four suspects who are helping the police in the investigation.
“The findings of this investigation will be made public as anyone culpable will be prosecuted no matter his or her position in the society,” Achong said.
He warned politicians to avoid the use of abusive, inflammatory and inciting statements that would heat up the polity.
The police commissioner said the command would not hesitate to deal decisively with any disgruntled person or group of persons that may wish to disturb the peace of the people, especially as election draws near.
He urged parents and guardians to monitor their children and wards to avoid being used by politicians to foment trouble in the state.
The late former deputy-speaker, Uwah, was killed on Wednesday March 18, when he went for a political meeting in Ward Three of Ukanafun Local Government Area of the state.
