One feared dead as gunmen attack electoral officials

OZUAHA: One person was feared dead as electoral officials carrying materials for the Presidential and National Assemblies Elections,on Saturday were attacked at Ubima-Ozuaha road in Ikwerre LGA, Rivers State.

The hoodlums who blocked the vehicles opened fire on the electoral officials and it turned into a gun battle between the police and the hoodlums and in the process one person was fatally wounded and feared dead.

Similarly, protest has started in Omerelu community in the same LGA following the fact that the INEC has not provided result sheet for the election till now.

A source in the community said some units have been razed by angry youths.

Although some communities the area carried on with the voting process pending the arrival of the sensitive material.
