Oyo APC teases SDP, PDP, other party candidates

The All Progressives Congress in Oyo State on Monday teased the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Seyi Makinde, and other opposition governorship candidates in the state, asking them to re-assess their political future and join the ruling party in the state.

In a statement on Monday by the chairman of the APC in the state, Akin Oke, the party described the Peoples Democratic Party, Accord Party and the Labour Party in the state as sinking ships, advising their governorship candidates and supporters to dump the parties.

“We want to counsel the standard bearer of the SDP in the April 11 governorship election, Makinde, to reflect on his political future, which we strongly believe will better be enhanced if he teams up with the APC now, along with his followers,” the party said.

While calling on Teslim Folarin of PDP, AP’s Rashidi Ladoja and LP’s Adebayo Alao-Akala, who are all governorship candidates of their parties in the coming April 11 election, APC said its victory in the state was an indication of its popularity among the people and the dwindling relevance of other parties in the state.

The party added that, “With the outcome of the election, Ladoja and his party should by now resign to fate that the people of Oyo State have finally rejected them. This informs our advice to the innocent followers, who all along have been deceived into believing that he (Ladoja) was a force to be reckoned with.

“Besides, the outcome of the elections has shown that the people of the state will never again fall for the bait of propaganda, deceit, falsehood, character assassination and reactionary politics for which the leading opposition parties’ candidates are known. Now that the people of Oyo State have again shown their preference for the APC, we strongly advise the followers of Folarin, Ladoja and Alao-Akala to review their stance and jump out of the turbulent ship in order not to sink with them.”
