PDP denies Amaechi’s Corruption Allegation Against Wike

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Rivers State Chapter has again faulted and denied Gov. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi’s corruption claims against the Honourable Minister of State for Education, Chief Nyesom Wike, saying it is an after-thought and politically motivated. It is a figment of Amaechi’s imagination, lacking in truth and substance.

Wike Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, and Minister of State for Education, Mr. Nyesom Wike

“How come Amaechi is only talking about it now that Wike is his political opponent? How come Amaechi as Governor of the State did not take any action against Wike if truly Wike diverted over N2B meant for building 14 Schools? How come Amaechi has not invited the EFCC or ICPC to probe Wike” the statement said, adding that Amaechi should show evidence that Wike diverted any public funds.

The Party noted that Amaechi must answer the following questions and make good explanations if he wants to be taken serious. If indeed Wike is corrupt, why did Amaechi nominate him to be appointed a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria? In the same vein, why did Amaechi make Wike the Director General of his campaign organisation in 2011 if Wike is corrupt? Is Amaechi now admitting that he is not in charge of his administration or that he is a weak governor? Is Amaechi now admitting that by not acting or speaking up against Wike before now, he was an accomplice to the crime of diversion of school contracts assuming it exists?

The PDP also flays Governor Amaechi’s allegation, describing it as a collection of fallacies, which does not only expose his short sightedness in the appreciation of the contributions and gallant efforts by Chief Wike in achieving the successes of that PDP led-administration in the State, but further demonstrates his weakness and confused state of mind as a governor.

The Party says she is not a new comer to the gimmick of Gov. Amaechi and his hopeless All Progressives Congress’ strategies, noting that such fraudulent claims should not have been swept under the carpet, and therefore challenges him to provide proof of the schools which construction funds were being diverted by the then Chief of Staff. The Party is also interested in being furnished with the contractual cost, proposed location and other facts attesting to the claims of the Governor, otherwise, he should forever remain silent.

Again, the PDP wonders why it took Gov. Amaechi four years after the life of that administration to ‘expose’ such action. This, we can understand, shows that Amaechi is a drowning politician who is merely playing to the gallery to achieve cheap and illusive political points.

The PDP therefore dismisses this unfounded allegation against its Leader in the State, Barr. Nyesom Wike, saying that at the appropriate time, it will bring to public domain records of facts and evidences of monumental corrupt practices by Gov. Amaechi, his family members and and allies.

We urge Gov. Amaechi to remove the log of wood in his eyes even though it appears too late for him.

The PDP calls on the public to disregard the said allegations by Governor Amaechi, and remain resolute against the distractive efforts of Amaechi by the APC to cause disaffection in the State.
