The Chairman of Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State, Morrison Okhuarobo, was on Wednesday walked out of the state House of Assembly by lawmakers for improper dressing.
Morrison was at the lawmakers’ sitting to present account of his stewardship since he was sworn-in as council chairman.
He wore a fez cap and a combat khaki trousers and shirt on which the words: “Proudly Oshio Picki” were inscribed.
Morrison was about to begin his presentation when Hon. Johnson Oghuma drew the lawmakers attention to the council boss dressing.
Oghuma said, “The governor is well respected across the world. He does not come here dressing in khaki. The governor respects this House and dress properly when coming here. He should go and dress properly.”
“This dressing amount to disregard and misconduct. He must tender unreserved apology.”
Other lawmakers insisted that Morrison should leave the chamber despite pleas by Speaker Uyi Igbe to allow him present the report.
Okhuarobo left and return after one hour, dressing in suit.
He apologized to the lawmakers for his dress code.
