Edo: We"ll address the spake of killings by cultists - Oshiomhole assures

By Ehi Ekhator, Naija Center News

The Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole has said that he is working seriously with the security agency in the state to end the spake of killing by frenzy cultists.

The governor who spoke with NAIJA CENTER NEWS  through one of his aides on Social Media & Public Affairs, Victor Oshioke disclosed that the government will address the increasing killing during their weekly security meeting.

Mr. Oshioke said ” The present spate of killings started less than a week ago , so I believe the issue will be extensively discussed by the Comrade governor and heads of the security agencies during their weekly security meeting. Certainly they will come up with a plan to stem the tide.

The police is the agency that is statutorily in charge of providing security. The governor as the chief of security officer of the state, helps the police with strategy, support and laws to to make the task easier.”

The governor’s aide  denied that the governor has anything to do with the cultists saga,  he cleared that the governor has not in anyways held meeting with cultists in a move to settle the battle.

Mr. Oshioke also denied knowing any knowledge of cultists being members of the governor’s cabinet as speculated.

He said  “I can assure you that the governor has never held a settlement meeting with cultists. But the police are making arrests daily.

“There is no cult member in the Oshiomhole government, if there was any I believe the police would know what to do. Anyone who speculates that the Comrade governors will mortgage the security of Edo state and his legacy just to please a cabinet member who he appointed and can fire at any time is just being simply malicious.

Asked if he knew any cult members among the lawmakers, Mr. Oshioke said “I am not a cult member so I cannot tell you who is a cult member and who is not.”

The rate of killing in Edo State has increased over the weeks with families  of their targets not left out of the attacks.

NAIJA CENTER NEWS had reported that two mothers were killed last week after some armed men traced their targets to their homes.

The recent development is strange since cultists do not usually kill relations if they missed their targets. The Edo youths are calling the state government do come to their rescue as walking on the street is no longer safe.
