Corruption Fuels Insurgency – Osinbajo

The vice presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) Prof Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), has noted that corruption is at the root of all the troubles bedeviling Nigeria adding that it was responsible for the escalation of Boko Haram insurgency.

Osinbajo, who stated this yesterday during a town hall meeting with stakeholders, including Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN clerics, APC stalwarts, non-government organisations, pressure groups, journalists and a host of others, in Yola, Adamawa State said to tackle the myriads of problems facing the country, corruption especially in high places must be eradicated.

He said if elected APC would not only make sure that the problem of corruption which has become the bane of Nigeria’s development, is curbed and will ensure that Nigerians key into the new social order of the APC.

Osinbajo observed that the dwindling economy of Nigeria was characterised by lack of vision by those entrusted with the wealth of the country, who rather than building it ended up plundering it as well as its external reserves.

He pledged that if the APC comes on board, General Muhammadu Buhari, would ensure prudence and quality service to the Nigerian populace, respect for the rule of law, and abide by the tenets of democracy, which would be a clear departure from what is now obtainable in the PDP led government.

The professor of law, also frowned at the claim of the federal government that it expended N4.3 trillion on security whereas the security situation in the country has not improved.
