Amaechi plot to buy off PVCs from voters uncovered - PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has raised an alarm over plans by the executive governor of the state, Romiti Amaechi to buy off voters card from electorates.

The party in a statement signed by the Special adviser to the State chairman on Media, Jerry Needam, said members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are persuading people to sell their PVCS to rig the forthcoming elections in the state.

According to the statement made available to NAIJA CENTER NEWS, the PDP said agents of the APC are moving from house to house, and are paying N10,000-N20,000 per PVC.

Apart from the PVCs being collected, the PDP also disclosed that the APC is collecting PVCs’ serial numbers and exchanging for money.

The PDP also accused Amaechi of instructing the newly appointed Chairmen of Caretaker Committees for the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State not to start any developmental projects, but use allocations due to the Local Government Councils to purchase permanent voters card of registered voters.

The party noted that it is not only despicable but smacks of a serious violation of the fundamental rights of citizens to exercise their franchise.

While calling on Rivers people to reject the APC and their monetary inducements, the PDP accused the Governor of taking advantage of the hardship meted to the people of the State following his eight years of misrule to exploit them.

PDP said it expressed no shock on the actions of the Governor since he has emptied the State’ treasury on frivolous campaign of the APC, and knowing that he had done nothing for the state and its people, have resorted to all kinds of tricks to rig the election.

The Party advised Amaechi to stop politics of deceit and inducement and tell Rivers People what his party can offer. The PDP also promised to build a State that would be home to call, irrespective of place of origin.

PDP advised Rivers people to call the police anytime APC agents approach them for their PVCs and PVCs serial numbers for a stipend.
