President Jonathan has said during the just finished Presidential media chat that he cannot increase fuel pump price this time.
He added that if he wanted to, he would have done it and faced the consequence.
He stressed that anyone increasing the pump price to exploit Nigeria is a criminal, adding that he cannot increase the pump price through the back door.
He said “I can’t increase the pump price though the backdoor, if i want to increase the pump price, i’ll do it and face the consequence. i will increase it base on the law because the law said that when you intend to increase the pump price, you must announce it to Nigerians. I have set up a committee to look into the manipulation of pump price, when we get them, we will treat them as criminals”
Speaking about corruption, he stressed that a country where everyone talks about corruption cannot work together to change the perception. He differentiated corruption from stealing, adding that Nigerians mixed them up.
He said that most of the cases where corruption issue is being raised are COMMON STEALING. He added that corruption is being overused.
Quoting from the former chief judge, Mr. Mustapha, he said that 70 percent of the cases people cry about and calling corruption are mere stealing.
When asked while he hasn’t started the cleansing of his administration from corruption, he said ” When people said President should be decisive, different people have different styles of achieving results. People say the President is too gentle, as a commander in chief of arm forces, he must be more aggressive, you are not dealing with people enough etc. I have been a Nigerian President for four years now starting from after the former President Yar’Adua died. Ask around on how many Police Inspector General of Police i have changed.
