PDP Berates Amaechi’s ‘Black Attire’ Order For Chibok School Girls

 

 The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Rivers State Chapter has described as misapplied and out of place Gov Chibuike Amaechi’s directive to school children and their teachers to put on black attire during this year’s Children’s Day Celebration (May 27) in honour, and as sign of respect for the Chibok Schools Girls kidnapped by Boko Haram insurgents.

Arguing that Amaechi’s belated concern for the Chibok School Girls is borne in bad faith, and satanic the PDP in a statement by the State chairman, Prince Felix Obuah and signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Jerry Needam said such demonstration in black attire connotes mourning for the dead and should not be used to show one’s disapproval of the School Girls’ hostage who are presumed alive unless Amaechi is certain they are dead.

While the PDP feels greatly worried and is fervently praying that these innocent girls be released by the insurgents as soon as possible, it regrets that all Amaechi could offer about the over one month old abduction of these little girls is to threaten school children and their teachers to wear black attire.

Except Gov Amaechi is very sure these lads are dead which onus lies on him for proof and evidence, we see no sense in this order, other than hypocrisy, mere showcasing and being populist, the PDP reasons.

The PDP therefore enjoins its supporters and members across the State and the entire Rivers people to reject the directive as satanic and incriminating and while marking the Children’s Day on low key, pray and commit the fate of these little School Girls, and future mothers of the nation in God’s care, believing that God’s intervention will see them through the ordeal safe.

Governor Amaechi at a programme in Degema entitled: “Rivers State Reads,” to mark this year’s Children Day directed all teachers and students to appear in black attire on Wednesday May 28, 2014 and threatened to sanction any teacher or student who disobeys the directive.
