Chibok Girls: PDP Commends Rivers People For Shunning Amaechi’s Directive on Black Attire

The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has commended students, teachers and Rivers people for shunning Governor Amaechi’s directive to put on black attire today Wednesday, May 28, 2014 over the abduction of the Chibok Girls.

Governor Amaechi had at a programme in Degema yesterday (Tuesday, May 27, 2014) directed all students, teachers and Rivers people to put on black attire today Wednesday, May 28, 2014 in respect of the abducted Chibox Girls.

This directive was swiftly condemned by the PDP and the party directed its members, students, teachers and Rivers people to shun the order, describing it as satanic and out of place.

The PDP said putting on black attire connotes mourning for the dead and should not be used to show one’s disapproval of the school Girls’ hostage who are presumed alive unless Gov Amaechi is certain they are dead.

In a statement made available to Naija Center News (NCN) in Port Harcourt today by Jerry Needam, Special Adviser, to the PDP Chairman, Bro Felix Obuah, who led the Monitoring Team of the Party to monitor compliance  to the Party directive, expressed satisfaction with Rivers people, students, teachers and members of the Party for shunning Amaechi’s directive to put on black attire today.

The PDP Monitoring Team visited schools in Ogoni Area, Port Harcourt, Obio/Akpor, Ikwerre, Onelga, Ahoada, Okirika, Oyigbo, Eleme, Andoni, Opobo, Asari-toru and Abonnema.

The team also visited Ubima, Governor Amaechi’s home town, markets, motor parks and other public places including the State Secretariat.

The PDP was satisfied the directive to put on attire today was shunned.

The PDP urges Gov Amaechi not to use his position to promote but to repel evil at all times, stressing that the directive to put on black attire when the Chibok Girls are alive is a satanic practice.
