At least 54 dead in Iraq violence

At least 54 people are dead after a string of violence across Iraq.

Streets are littered with debris after multiple car bombings, suicide attacks and assassinations around the country.

In this Shi’ite district of Al-Ameen, a car bomb exploded near street vendors. Police said the blast killed 10 civilians and wounded 29 others.

And in Baghdad’s Sadr City, a minivan explosion. According to police, four people were killed and 14 were wounded.

The bloodshed hit mostly Shi’ite sections of Baghdad and the troubled northern city of Mosul, where an al Qaeda breakaway faction maintains control.
