Man beats wife to death in Oyo

A 47-year-old man, Ismaila Alabi, has been arrested for allegedly beaten his wife, Bashirat Alabi, to death.


PoliceThe suspect was arrested by men of the Oyo State Police Command at Ile-tuntun area of Ibadan, Oyo State.


Acting on information, policemen from Eleyele division swung into action and arrested the man while the lifeless body of the deceased was reportedly found by detectives lying on the ground in front of their house.


After the beating, the woman, reportedly left their matrimonial home for her mother’s house at Apete area of Ibadan for treatment at a hospital, where she died.


After being rejected by the doctors at the hospital, she was said to have confided in her mother that her husband used charm on her and thereafter gave up the ghost.


Boils were said to have grown all over her body which doctor could not find solution to, leading to her rejection by the doctor.


Alabi, the suspect, while speaking with newsmen, denied his involvement in his wife’s death, saying: “I did not use anything to beat her. It has been about two years since we fought, but this fight just came up and she left for her mother’s house at Apete. I was shocked when I heard she had died,” the suspect said.
