NANS backs Jonathan’s second term

The National Association of Nigerian Students, Ondo Joint Campus Committee Axis, has unanimously adopted President Goodluck Jonathan as its candidate for next month’s election.

The students reached the conclusion after a meeting of its leaders in the South-West Zone, held at the Federal University of Technology, Akure(FUTA) on Tuesday.

The meeting was attended by Presidents of Student Union Governments of the institutions in the zone, Ondo JCC Chairman Odunayo Kowe, NANS Southwest Zone D Treasurer, and the Vice President NANS, [National Affairs] Timilehin Ayenuro.

The students argued that they were supporting Jonathan for a second term for his key achievements in the education sector.

The achievements, they said, were the establishment of 150 Almajiri modern schools to boost education in the north, establishment of nine new federal universities, and ‎equipping of 51 Federal and State polytechnics with state-of-the-art laboratories.

Speaking on behalf of the students body, Ayenuro said the President had also ensured the restoration of the Federal Government Scholarships to students as well as the release of N200Billion Intervention Fund for the education sector.
