The National leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has announced the Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, as the sole governorship candidate of the party in the 2015 elections.
The National Screening Committee in the South West made this known on Monday in Lagos, while presenting the screening certificate to Mr. Amosun.
The committee revealed that the incumbent remained the only aspirant in the South West to have submitted a form before the screening exercise.
The chairman of the committee, Danjuma Goje, commended Mr. Amosun for his strides since assuming the saddle of leadership in the state.
“I want to commend him for the good works he is doing for our party, the good people of the state and his various strides since he assumed office,” Mr. Goje said. “God will help our party come 2015 to effect the needed change in this country.”
Responding, Mr. Amosun commended the party leadership for the cream of experienced statesmen who made up the screening committee.
He pointed out that alongside his colleagues he would still fly the flag of APC in Ogun.
He stated that the party’s manifesto, which is development-oriented, was paramount to the present administration in the state.
He insisted that APC would be victorious in the presidential election and would thereby extend development to the length and breadth of the country.
“What we are particular about is what our party has always challenged us to adhere strictly to which is development that cuts across every facet of human life including employment generation, urban renewal, qualitative education, among others,” Mr. Amosun said. “APC will truly make the difference in Nigeria and will be victorious in the presidential election.”
