Fayose, Fayemi greet Christians at Christmas

The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has called on the people of the state to use the Christmas period to reflect on the past, present and the future of the state and to think of how they could complement the efforts of the government to make it better.

Fayose, according to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi, on Wednesday also enjoined all and sundry to see Jesus Christ as the saviour of mankind, the author and finisher of our faith.

He maintained that if Christ had not been born, no one  knew “what would have become of our sins which He has redeemed.”

The governor asked for the cooperation of the people of the state as he continued to meet their yearnings which he said he was determined to maintain in his administration.

He urged the people to continue to pray for his government, saying that it is only through that that our Lord Jesus Christ can solve all the problems inherited by the present administration.

He also enjoined the motorists and motorcyclists as well as other road users to be extra careful during the festive season.

Meanwhile, the former governor of the State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has congratulated Christians in the country for witnessing yet another Christmas.

He urged them to continue to live peacefully in love and harmony with one another and with adherents of other religions.

Fayemi, in a Christmas message signed by his media aide, Mr. Yinka Oyebode, on Wednesday stated that God used the birth of Jesus Christ to pass the message of peace and love to the world.

He said, “Christmas is a season to give and expect little in return. A time to preach peace and love. A time to forgive, be more united and forge ahead in the crucial task of building a very strong and vibrant nation.”

Fayemi added that being alive to witness another Christmas was a privilege, judging by the prevailing circumstances in the nation in particular and the world at large. This, he said, called for celebration.

He, however, advised Christians to celebrate in moderation and to devote much time to appreciate God for His mercies and to reflect on the developmental challenges in the country with a view to seeking God’s intervention.
