The All Progressives Congress in Edo State has accused the People’s Democratic Party of using “vulgar and abusive language, illogical arguments and fallacies,” in a recent television documentary, “to blindfold the people to the developmental strides of the state government.”
The APC State Publicity Secretary, Godwin Erhahon, in a statement made available to journalists in Benin, accused the State Chairman of the PDP, Chief Dan Orbih, of using false pictures of the previous administration in order to create disbelief that the Governor Adams Oshiomhole administration had transformed basic infrastructure in the state.
He also described as an insult to the state governor, the allegation that an Office of the Governor’s Mother had been created by the state government.
“That Mr Orbih continues to use pictures of the bad state in which PDP left Edo roads and schools in an attempt to blindfold the people to how well the APC government has transformed them shows that he has lost sense of campaign.
“How can a sane politician continue to show the pictures of the collapsed Central Hospital, Benin City, which has been rebuilt and is visible to all, as if the people of the state are blind.
“APC trusts that Edo communities continue to remember the pitiable state in which PDP left them and can therefore not be blindfolded by clowns who are trying to sell the political rotten meat called PDP to them,” he said.
But the PDP on Monday argued that the said documentary was aimed at exposing what it described as the “lies and deceit Oshiomhole told Nigerians.”
In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Chris Nehikhare, the party said that it chose to use the said TV programme to “reveal many of the financial reckless approvals and expenditure of EDSG that can easily pass as stealing from the people.
While accusing the Erhahon of misinforming the people about the content of the documentary, it also challenged the state government to “deny or impeach” the allegations.
