Sri Lanka may have just recorded first Ebola case

There is great apprehension in Sri Lanka over the death of an unknown individual who, according to report, developed signs of Ebola.


The incident has led to a proper investigation by the Health Ministry. The carrier died at the Rikillagaskada base Hospital in Anuradapora.


According to the State Media Department, the symptoms could also be associated with rat fever, adding that a further investigation through series of blood samples would verify the cause of the death.


Investigation revealed that the victim had spent some time in India. Though India has not recorded any case of Ebola, but a Nigerian woman who was travelling to India died In United Arab Emirate (UAE) after developing symptoms of the virus.


Sources revealed that the woman was travelling to India to treat herself of cancer related problem but could not make it to her destination before she gave up the ghost.


Sequel to the recent case in Sri Lanka, the Director of the Minister of Health has warned Divisional Health Officers to take all necessary precautions.


Ebola has been recorded in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, and Guinea.
