The new Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, who could not operate from his palace due to the protest that greeted his emergence, returned to the palace yesterday after seven days.
Sanusi who was appointed by the Kano State Government was greeted by the mammoth crowed of well wishers, Royal guards and heavily armed policemen who escorted him into the palace.
Policemen ended their five days siege on the palace on Thursday night.
Though after days, Police boss have refused to explain to the people of Kano and Nigeria why they took over the new Emir’s place.
The new emir left the Government’s house, from where he has been operating at about 3.3opm after he led the Juma’at prayer at the state House.
The Emir, also while at the palace, conducted late evening prayers (Asr prayer) inside the palace mosque and was welcomed by hundreds of jubilant.
Sanusi, covered in white, drove into the palace in his Emir official car though the new gate that was erected for him according to tradition.
There were gunshots fired as he entered. an activity carried out by the palace guard as an honour which according to them, mark a new beginning.
While conducting sermon on Friday, the emir warned all Muslims and urge them to fear God in whatever they do, saying that ”we can get it right” through the fear for Allah.
He promised to maintain transparency, treat everyone as equal, fairness and would exhibit high sense of responsibility.
Sanusi during his sermon admitted that he was not the best among the three candidates but God chose him instead, adding that ”God gives power to whom he wants”
He added “I enjoin Muslims to draw my attention to whatever wrong I have committed, for I know that to err is human, but to forgive is God’s”
He advised Muslims to always ask for his intervention during times of difficulties and challenges.
