ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
STORY: Local farmers in northern Argentina conducted dramatic rescue operations on Wednesday (June 11) after torrential downpours and flooding threatened the lives of cattle and horses.
Farmers in the province of Corrientes guided their cows, bulls and horses across a river to safety.
The animals swam as they were anchored with ropes to small boats.
Some needed special assistance or even a ride to get across the current.
Torrential rains pummeled the region over the weekend, causing water levels to surge in the Parana and Iguazu rivers. The famous Iguazu Falls, a UNESCO World Heritage site, was closed to visitors as brown floodwater cascaded over the falls and obstructed walkways and viewpoints.
