Pregnant woman, son, driver die in auto crash

Enugu – TRAGEDY struck on Friday in Enugu, Enugu State capital, as a pregnant woman, her son and a driver died in a  ghastly motor accident.

The pregnant woman identified as Mrs Chioma Constance Kwentoh and the other two met their death at Trans- Ekulu near the permanent site of the Enugu International Trade Fair.

An eyewitness said  that the late woman’s daughter, identified as Miracle Kwentoh, survived the fatal accident but was unconscious  and   rushed to the hospital.

A brother of the late pregnant woman, Mr Ikechukwu  Okwue, who spoke to newsmen in Enugu, said his sister and her children were coming from Asaba in Delta State when the accident occurred.

Okwue further disclosed that the  vehicle conveying his sister and the children  developed a fault at Unizik Junction, in Awka, Anambra State capital, adding that all efforts  made to get a commercial vehicle to continue the journey failed due to a downpour.

He added that his late sister’s husband  later  sent one of his commercial bus drivers to  pick them from Awka.

According to him, while they were on their way to Enugu, the driver of a lorry, who allegedly ignored traffic signs, hit the vehicle conveying them, killing them instantly.

He further stated that his sister died of shock  on realising that her  son  had died after bleeding continuously without help.
