The Federal Government has said yesterday that it would not prosecute the father of the arrested terrorist, Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche, who was involved in the twice bombing of Nyanya motor park, a suburb of Abuja, unless he is found guilty of terrorist related activities.
The government also explained why the extradition of the suspect, Sadiq Ogwuche is being delay, which it attributed to procedural matter.
Mr. Mike Omeri, the National Coordinator of National Briefing Centre on Security, revealed this while briefing journalists and representatives of security agencies in Abuja
Omeri said: “Considering that the extradition processes take some times to conclude, the terror fugitive, Sadiq Ogwuche’s arrival in Nigeria is still being awaited.
”Meanwhile, the relevant officials are working round the clock to conclude the process and bring him back to the country. Further developments on this will be communicated.”
Sadiq Ogwuche was arrested in Sudan with the assistance of Interpol, DSS, Nigeria Police and the Military attache to the Nigerian High Commission in Sudan.
The suspect is a British born Nigerian who abandoned the Army in 2006. His service number was SVC/95/104, and currently a student of Arabic Language at the international University of Africa, Sudan.
He served in the Intelligence Unit of the Nigerian Army at Child Avenue, Arakan Barracks, Lagos, between 2001 and 2006.#
Ogwuche hail from Orokan, Ogbadibo council of Benue State, and was previously involved in terrorism which led to his arrest at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on November 12, 2011, on his arrival from the United Kingdom.
