One of the mothers of the more than 200 abducted students of Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State has identified her daughter on a video released by the leader of Boko Haram this morning, a school leader told Reuter by phone on Tuesday.

The conversation explained further that the said mother watched the video of a dozens of girls sitting on the ground wearing veils and spotted her daughter out, said Dumoma Mpur, Chairman of the parents teacher association at the school.

Similarly, a bout five students of the same school were identified by their schoolmates in the video released by the Boko Haram sect yesterday.

Media were not allowed to see the girls who spent hours inside the office of the Chief of Staff to the Borno State governor, Habu Kyari and was suddenly driven away to the government house.

The Chairman of the Chibok local government area Baana Lawan, took them out of the complex.

The Chairman was also given the task to duplicate the released video to be given to the parents of the girls for further identification in order to be sure that the video is not fake.

There has been mixed reaction over the identification as those who saw their kids feel a bit relief while those who couldn’t identify their children feel devastated.

One of the parents of the kidnapped girls, Samuel Bulama said he was happy when he saw two of his nieces, Absatu Abubakar and Aisha Abubakar,

He said “I was able to recognize my nieces but I am not happy about the fact that the president who is in charge of security is unable to bring them back to us. It is really painful.

“Equally, I do not accept that they have put them inside hyjabs in the name of Islam. No religion uses force to convert people so by the grace  of God my nieces age 19 and 21 are still Christians and there is nothing Boko Haram can do about it when they are free. ” he added

According to the Nation, Secretary of the elders forum in  Borno Bulama Gubio revealed that the insurgents have a strong financial source with which they operate as the Hyjabs put on the girls were as expensive as N4000, which he said is a lot of money.

“The picture shown is real and I think the government should take it very serious by ensuring that they do all they can to free the girls unhurt” Guibo said
