President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered mass retirement of no fewer than 17 permanent secretaries on Tuesday.
The President fired the secretaries few minutes after holding a meeting with them in the Presidential Villa.
Present at the meeting were Chief of Staff to the President Abba Kyari and the Head of Civil Service of the Federation.
It could be recall that earlier today, a former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo was reported to have held a secret meeting with the President.
The connection between the visit and the action taken by Buhari to let go of his 17 PS could not be established as at the time of filing this report.
The meeting was said to be held behind closed-doors and journalists were not allowed near the venue which was described as private.
Obasano arrived Presidential villa at 11.45 in a black Sport Utility Vehicle and left at about 12.50 after clinching an office file.
