APC demands reinstatement of 22 sacked chairmen, councilors

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congerss has charged the Inspector General of Police, Solomo Arase to implement the judgement of the National Industrial Court reinstating the sacked 22 Council Chairmen in Rivers State without delay.

It could be recalled that a controversial court judgement by Justice Akanbi sacked the council chairmen and councilors.

 

Challenging the IGP to do the right thing, APC said on Tuesday in a statement signed by its Chairman, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya: “We appeal to IGP Solomon Arase to immediately take action to reinstate the illegally sacked LG Chairmen as ruled yesterday by the National Industrial Court sitting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. We also urged IGP Arase to ensure the arrest and prosecution of the misguided elements Wike constituted as Care-Taker Committees to run the affairs of the Rivers State Councils and stop them from executing Wike’s plot to use them as conduit pipes to plunder and milk the treasury of Rivers state dry.”

 Rivers APC in the statement issued in Port Harcourt noted that the judiciary has once again proven that it is the last hope of the common man by reinstating the illegally sacked Council Chairmen. “We commend and congratulate the National Industrial Court for saving the judiciary from the shame that Justice Akanbi nearly brought upon it by his strange judgment that undermined the appeal before a Higher Court,” the party said.

It came down heavily on Wike, saying: “We have severally stated that Wike has no place in a democratic dispensation as his records are an evil reminder of undemocratic bad blood in a civilised society.

“Former Governor Chibuike Ameachi’s slogan ‘Truth Will Prevail’ has come to play and very soon Wke will be caught up in his own traps. We thank God for this judgment. Wike can bribe one judge but he cannot bribe all judges. Truth has prevailed.

“With the sack of Wike’s illegal Council Chairmen, they have entered the Hall of Shame as the shortest serving Local Government Chairmen ever in the history of Nigeria as they were in office only for an aggregate period of 27 hours.”

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party has described at false, a report that says an industrial court in Bayelsa reinstated the 22 sacked chairmen and councilors.

The PDP while speaking with NAIJA CENTER NEWS said there was no judgement as case was adjourned till October; blaming the spread of what it referred as “wide unfounded lies” on Dakuku Peterside.
