Campaign team alleges plot to stone Buhari in Ondo

The Buhari Campaign Coordinator for Ondo State, Mr. Ife Oyedele, has alleged that the Peoples Democratic Party in the state is plotting to organise youths to stone the convoy of Maj. Gen Muhammadu Buhari when the All Progressives Congress holds its presidential rally in the state on Saturday.

He spoke in Akure on Thursday at a press conference organised by the Muhammadu Buhari Legacy Foundation, an NGO rallying support for the presidency of the APC candidate.

According to him, the plot is to retaliate the attack by youths on the convoy of President Goodluck Jonathan in Katsina on Tuesday.

“The PDP is organising thugs to stone our convoy on Saturday. They are recruiting thugs that will be throwing stones at General Buhari, just to give the impression that he is not loved by the people of the state.

“But we shall resist it. We have also petitioned the Commissioner of Police in the state on this. We expect the security agencies to do what they are paid to do,” Oyedele said.

Also, the Coordinator of the BLF, Chief Kolawole James, said the foundation was committed to complementing the efforts of the APC in the state to ensure that Buhari emerged President in next month’s election.

He noted that Buhari remained a credible candidate, dedicated to bringing the desired change to Nigeria and the people of Ondo State.

Responding to the allegation, the state chapter of the PDP refuted the allegation, saying the party represented civility and a very decent political party.

Publicity Secretary of the party, Banji Okunomo, said, “The PDP is a very decent party. President Goodluck Jonathan represents civility and conducts his affairs in a peaceful manner.

“We cannot tow the line of the animalistic tendencies of some people as shown in the incident in Katsina. We are peaceful and I can attest to the peace loving nature of Governor Olusegun Mimiko.”
