Nigerian Military Seizes Boko Haram ‘Hit List’

The Nigerian military on Tuesday said it has recovered a Boko Haram hit list, which contains names of communities targeted by the extremist group.

The Defence Headquarters through its official Twitter page said other documents, including sketches of towns, were also recovered.

Boko Haram militants have overrun several communities in northeast Nigeria, killing residents and destroying their homes and places of worship.

The military has, in recent weeks, reclaimed some towns that fell to the terrorists.

In two separate operations spanning Adamawa and Bauchi states, government troops killed 27 suspected terrorists during fighting, defence spokesperson, Chris Olukolade, was quoted as by PRNigeria as saying.

PRNigeria publishes statements by the military.

“During a hot pursue of the terrorists around Hildi, Adamawa State, at least seven of the terrorists lost their lives while a total of five rifles, hundreds of rounds of ammunition as well as bows and arrows were captured from them,” it said.

It said during another raid operation conducted on Balmo and Lame forests linking Borno, Bauchi and Adamawa states, troops recovered rifles and a number of motorcycles after a stiff resistance by terrorists was crushed.

Over 20 of Boko Haram fighters lost their lives while some were reported wounded, the report said.
