Angry lawmakers, Nyako relocate to Abuja for peace meeting

AS the members of the Adamawa State House of Assembly intensify efforts to impeach the state governor, Murtala Nyako and his deputy, governors under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress (APC), members of the party in the National Assembly and other stakeholders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, have reportedly waded into the matter, with a view to saving the former naval officer.

An informed source told the Nigerian Tribune in Abuja last night that the embattled governor and his deputy as well as all the members of the state House of Assembly had relocated to Abuja for various peace meetings going on.

It was gathered that meetings were scheduled to take place last night (Thursday) to save Nyako  and his deputy from impeachment.

According to the source, one of the meetings  was being called around some senators, led by one Senator Aisha from Taraba State, while the second meeting was at the instance of the APC governors.

It was gathered that some of the legislators had said they would  not sit on the table unless former VP Atiku was present.

However, Atiku  was still being expected  in Abuja from South Africa,  where he travelled to for the  inauguration of the country’s  Parliament.

Meanwhile, the clerk of the state House of Assembly, Mr Francis Gabsenso, has said he is yet to serve Governor Nyako and his deputy, Mr Bala Ngilari, notices of impeachment.

The clerk, who spoke with newsmen on the development in Yola on Thursday, said “I went to their respective offices but met their absence.’’

In  a statement issued by Reverend Phineas Padio, the party’s publicity secretary, the party said the assembly was acting the script of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
