The Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has described Gov. Amaechi’s resolve to fight over Ikwerre Guber candidate in the 2015 election as unfortunate, irresponsible and unpatriotic.
The PDP also views such public declaration by the Governor, who is expected to always exhibit decorum and disposition to maintain peace and protect lives and property in the State as a sign of lacking in ability and capacity to continue in governance in a multi- ethnic State like Rivers.
The Party further says it is worried that Amaechi who during his first tenure enjoyed the support and acceptance of people from all ethnic nationalities, including his Ikwerre kith and kin could be so ‘forgetful’ and hard-hearted to take such illogical stance, even when he has nothing to show to the people as his development efforts in the area.
PDP wonders why Governor Amaechi has continued to act revolutionarily to incite the people against federal authorities, the President and other chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party in the State and at the national level.
Gov. Amaechi’s statement to us, does not only indicate his personal position, but goes further to expose his resolve to sponsor violence using the recently released militants and cultists in the State as mercenaries and thugs in the 2015 elections.
The PDP therefore, calls on the people of the State and the law enforcement agencies to hold Governor Amaechi responsible for any breakdown of law and order, and possible violence in the coming elections.
