Ministerial List: Senators divided over screening of Amaechi

There are strong indications that Nigerian senators have divided over the screening of a former governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi.

Amaechi was one of the 21 nominees that was first submitted to the senate for screening.

Due to the petition submitted against him, the upper house ordered Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petition to look into it.

Well, it was gathered that members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP among the committee are opposed to the screening of Amaechi.

 

It could be recalled that the would-be minister was invited on Monday by the committee where it was resolved that since the petition submitted by Integrity Group against Amaechi was already in court, it would amount to subjudice to handle the petition on corruption.

The inclusion of Amaechi on the list has attracted a lot of criticism mostly from the Rivers people who believed that the former governor was corrupt and still has questions to answer.
