The governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has been accused of plotting to impeach his deputy governor, Dr. Pius Odubu over his interest to contest 2016 governorship election.
It was speculated that Oshiomhole has given Odubu chance to resign honorably or face impeachment since he refused to drop his political ambition.
Responding to the speculation, an aide to the governor, Victor Oshioke who spoke with NAIJA CENTER NEWS described the rumour as malicious from idles mind.
Mr. Oshioke said “That is absolute balderdash. That is the most ridiculous rumour I have heard this year. This rumour is a malicious creation of idle minds.
“There is no rift between the Governor and his Deputy. They enjoy the most cordial relationship that can be imagined between two responsible, high profile individuals. The Deputy will certainly not respond to these kinds of irresponsible rumours which are internationally concocted in the first place, to distract the government from concentrating on its determination to give Edo people the ultimate benefits of good governance.
Edo governor’s media aide, Kassim Afegbua also debunked the speculation, saying “There is nothing like that. It’s just a ridiculous gossip”.
Dennis Eribo, who his profile shows as consultant at edo state government also decried the rumour . He advised that such rumour be disregarded. He debunked the speculation that there is problem between Odubu and his boss.
Eribo said “I will advise that you disregard the lies going round the mills. There is no issue between Odubu and Oshiomhole. The mother of Odubu got a state burial last week courtesy of the magnanimity of the Comrade Governor to his Deputy. He, Odubu didn’t lobby for it in his usual way. The guys peddling the rumours are mischief makers mostly members of the opposition party and some desperate APC comers who believe they deserve to acquire the Governorship Ticket by whatever means. We are not disturbed by the scheming. On Tuesday the Governor had told all his exco members to disregard any false alarm being raised on Social Media.
Asked to confirm if Odubu was actually running for next year governorship election, Eribo said” everybody has a right to aspire to any position. Odubu cannot be judged with a different rule. Infact, Odubu is the candidate to beat right now. The others are using the Governor’s name”.
