A former governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola has been exposed by a foremost budget analytic firm, BudgiT over his outrage spending of N78.3 million from the state’s treasure for the upgrade of his personal website, http://tundefashola.com/.
This was contained on the state public procurement office’s website under the contract awarded in 2014.
According to the 2014 expenses breakdown, the contract was given to info access limited. Fashola website is built on wordpress, a free application used by most bloggers.
Other expenditures incurred and updated on the website that seem questionable are
Publicity Strategy for residents registration and cloud back-up for Residents Registration Data was pinged at the amount of N20,231,573.75 and N26,829, 150.48 respectively, N1.2 billion was spent for the construction of pedestrian bridges along Oti-Osa Lekki-Epe Expressway without specifying the number of bridges.
The news of the website upgrade is making rounds on social media and Nigerians are expressing their disappointment and many handles on twitter have taken on Fashola’s account to express their anger.
Governor Fashola was seen as one of the outstanding governor who could not been indicted in any financial misappropriation saga since he is likely to make the list of President Muhammadu Buhari the the world has backed on war against anti-graft until Friday.
It could be recalled that the governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose had asked Buhari to first probe those who sponsored his election, while the PDP senators had taken on the President for witch haunting by probing only the opposition government.

Meanwhile a civil society group, Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari not to consider the immediate past Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), for appointment.
The Executive Chairman of the group, Mr. Debo Adeniran, told our correspondent during an interview on Thursday that Fashola’s administration was engulfed in several controversies which could not be overlooked.
Adeniran said independent investigations by his organisation showed that the 1.36km Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge which was reportedly built for N25bn, cost only N6bn.
He said he had written a series of petitions to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to probe the various projects of the Fashola government in the face of the over N500bn debt left behind by the government.
