The Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the protest by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja, saying that the call for the redeployment of the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Rivers State, Mrs. Gesila Khan is a deceit.
A statement by the State Chairman of the party, Bro. Felix Obuah signed by his Special Adviser, Media, Jerry Needam described the protest as laughable and called on Nigerians not to be swayed by the gimmicks.
It said the protest lacked substance, adding that it is another plot by the APC to scuttle the April 11 election in Rivers State, knowing it stood no chance of winning the poll.
The PDP believes that APC is looking for an INEC Commissioner who will play their biddings, having failed in their numerous attempts to persuade the present INEC Boss in Rivers State into writing election results in favour of the APC.
The party disclosed that information available to it suggests that the APC is pressuring its President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari to persuade INEC Chairman, Attahiru Jega to redeploy the Rivers INEC Commissioner, Gesilia Khan.
This desperation, according to the PDP, shows that the APC is not on ground in Rivers State and is merely groping for a short cut to win the election.
The party also called on Rivers people to go about their normal businesses, reminding them that the end of their oppression in the hands of the APC led government in Rivers State is but a few days to April 11, 2015.
Against this background, the PDP calls on the APC to come and face the electorate on Saturday April 11, 2015 to prove its popularity.
