Six Dead, 36 lnjured in Maiduguri Suicide Bombing

Six persons have been reported dead in the suicide explosion on Maiduguri Monday Market on Monday, a hospital source  said.

The medical personnel at Borno Specialist Hospital, Maiduguri, where the corpses were deposited, equally said 36 injured persons were brought in for treatment.

A soldier, who asked not to be mentioned in print as he was not given official permission to speak to the press, said the female suicide bomber tried gaining entrance into the market but was stopped by the local vigilante attached to the market who requested to search her.

He said: “She refused and was pushed aside by the civilian JTF. She must have detonated the bomb in the process as it immediately went off tearing her into pieces and cutting off an arm of the civilian JTF.

“Five other people died in the process and we have evacuated their bodies to the morgue and have also taken over 30 injured persons to the hospital.”

Meanwhile, the stop and search of vehicles has increased in the town with traffic jam building up everywhere.
